4orner Changelog v1.01 - More Multipliers

Now that my #30daydeveloper challenge is over, what's next for me? I am not quite sure but I am incredibly overjoyed at the response my game has gotten so far. It's amazing to hear how my little game has made a positive and inspirational impact on total strangers across the internet. What a world we live in.

I strongly believe that a great game developer is one who listens to the community and continuously strives for that perfection--no matter how far away that may be. So it is my duty to keep updating 4orner as feedback is received.

Today's changelog is titled - More Multipliers
  • Added several new multiplier effects
    • "Two-by-two" - get alternating colors in pairs (red, red, blue, blue, green, green, etc.)
    • "Three-by-three" - same as above but in threes
    • "Four-by-four" - same as above but in fours
    • "Half-by-half" - evenly divided half inventory (five of one color, five of another)
  • Half inventory now reduces the total multiplier by half
    • To balance this, all other multipliers are now applied at half inventory instead of requiring a full inventory
      • I felt that the half inventory was getting little to no play. Not to mention once the levels get higher it's really difficult to hold out for full inventories
  • Added new loading gif
    • With four circles (like the game!)
  • An extra ball spawns every five levels, down from every ten levels
  • Reduced ball speed increase per level by half
  • Added a new functional key - enter
    • Press enter to lock the mouse at the location of the player ball
      • May not be the best strategy late game as the ability to "teleport" from place to place requires the mouse to be unlocked
  • Added a new level in the tutorial outlining that getting alternating colors gives bonus points
    • Might be a bit difficult due to how fast balls spawn in the tutorial

On a side note, thank you everyone for your feedback!

Jooble

Yesterday, I received an incredibly friendly email from an anonymous person who claimed to have read my blog and "loved it." Of course, because my blog is public and anybody can comment anonymously, I was a bit skeptical of this email. Yet, seeing as how this was the first ever "fan mail" I've ever received, I read the email. It wasn't fan mail, but it was an email from a person who works for a website called " Jooble ." Interested by his genuineness and heartfelt compliments of my blog, I took a quick glance at the website. Here's what he had to say about Jooble: Jooble operates in 45+ countries, so if you would like to find a job in other locations you may try to search jobs in: Argentina , Australia , Austria , Belgium , Belarus , Brazil , Canada , Chile , China Colombia , Czech Republic , Denmark , Spain , Finland , France , Germany , Greece , Hong Kong , Hungary , Italy , India , Indonesia , Ireland , Japan , Kazakhstan , Mexi...

Making a Board Game

Wanted to update my blog with what I've been up to recently. I made a board game and have been working on that full time for the past 3 or so months. The name is still WIP but it's tentatively set as "Our Modern Lives." It's a tile/card based map-building game. The goal is to achieve "Success" and "Happiness" before anyone else can by building your own route. Here are a few pictures of the current build (v1.20 Beta): On a side note, follow me on Instagram for more (semi-frequent) updates!

Left Turns and MoMath

The LED floor puzzle. I went to the Museum of Math the other day. It was a recent addition to the dozens of museums already in existence in NYC, but being a sucker for hands-on museums, I couldn't let this one pass by. While a relatively new museum (opened this December), it still garnered a rather large crowd on Christmas Day. The museum's two floors were packed with mostly parents and their kids. Sometimes it was a bit cramped due to overcrowding and I had to wait for my turn on certain exhibitions numerous times. Overall a pretty negative experience space-wise. Otherwise, it was a pretty decent museum. I'd wait  a bit so they can learn how to deal with large crowds. Many of their attractions were broken when I visited, thus subtracting from the ideal experience. If you're interested, you should definitely stop by, it's worth one visit at least. On a side note, I hope to be blogging more this Winter, so be on the look-out for more posts!
